Tyler Mendezona or “Coach Mendo” teaches P.E. in grades 5-8 and coaches Bear Creek’s varsity boys basketball team. Tyler attended and played basketball at Northwest University from 2009 to 2012 where he helped lead his basketball team to two straight NAIA National Tournaments, making it all the way to the Elite-8 his senior year. Prior to Bear Creek, Coach Mendo was a JV/varsity assistant coach at Eastside Catholic High School, as well as the JV/assistant varsity coach at Kings High School helping lead the Knights to consecutive 1A State Championship appearances. Tyler has also spent time as the lead trainer, coach, and camp director for the Quick Handle Basketball program. In his first two years at Bear Creek, Tyler has led the Grizzlies to consecutive Bi-District playoff appearances and continues to use his gifts God has given him to develop and transform the lives of our student-athletes. Tyler's and his wife Alexa (who also played collegiate basketball) are expecting their first child this fall.
